Without hesitation and never having had a lesson he began playing all the songs he had learned for the Infant School Nativity. He became Sunday School pianist at Bethel Mission Chapel in Kenfig Hill at the age of six. In 1989 at Mynydd Cynffig Junior School he won the Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir Shield as Musician of the Year.At age 12 Andrew began receiving music lessons from Mr Alan James, Head of Music at the local comprehensive school which he believes was his biggest musical influence. He was later appointed organist at St. Theodore's Church, Kenfig Hill receiving lessons from well known organist at Margam Abbey, Mrs Megan Inglesant. In 1993 he became accompanist to the Mid Glamorgan Mixed Choir accompanying in concert such well known Welsh artists and television personalities Shan Cothi and Trebor Edwards. In 1995 at the tender age of 17 Andrew accepted the position of accompanist to the Kenfig Hill Male Voice where he remained until 2005. His four year Sabbatical ended in 2009 when he returned to a very enthusiastic welcome to the Kenfig Hill Choir.
