Beryl Evans ALCM
Beryl was born in Cefn Cribwr, a small mining village just outside Kenfig Hill where she attended the local school. Beryl a natural musician inherited her musical talents from both her parents, her father an accomplished tenor and her mother a pianist and church organist.
Beryl began music lessons at the age of 7 years, one of her earlier teachers was her aunt, Mrs Betty Dixon, herself an accomplished pianist and accompanist. In her latter student years Beryl was taught and guided in her studies through to her academic achievement to become an Associate of the London College of Music by Mr Tom Daniels.
From the age of 12 years Beryl was piano accompanist to many local solo artists and musical groups. In 1990 she accepted the invitation to become principal accompanist to the Kenfig Hill Male Choir, a position she retained until 1995, when for personal reasons she left the choir. In the intervening years Beryl continued to play and accompany local choirs and operatic societies until her return to the male choir in January 2003, once more becoming a highly respected and valued member of the musical team.
